Lana del hey girl, haaay

Some things I like herein:

  • Making a crown with brooches
  • Semi-opaque pastel nails, reminds me of Bakelite
  • One of her songs

Beetlejuice is, like, totally trending right now.  I saw this on John Jannuzzi’s personal blog and on The Gloss of late - how timely, because look what I just got my hands on/on my hands, special import for me from the UK.

Model’s Own Beetle Juice.

                 Aqua Violet + Purple Blue

I did a little ombré with two coats of the oil-in-a-puddle Purple Blue shade, following by one coat of the sheer-er Aqua Violet on the top half only.

If you live in the UK, this is ye olde news to you, but for me it was very exciting.  Thank you to Jenny for bringing this back for me!

Does this: Craymazing iridescent nail colors
Is this: Model’s Own Beetle Juice Collection
Get this: Above, if you’re in UK
Price: 5 quid each

Sorry this song is in your head now … six foot seven foot eight foot BUNCH!

I want to make a separate pen cup on my desk for these.  And doodlicure away during conference calls.

Laqa&Co Nail Pens … you know what’s great about these?  The packaging is an artist collab and the artists make a percentage of the sales.

I achieved nail polish nirvana this weekend and I have problems am so happy!

All my nail polish was in a train case, and it was kind of a hot mess because I couldn’t see in the darkness and would have to take everything out in order to find a color.

before

I picked up 2x acrylic cases from Muji and organized the tools and accoutrements in the bottom, and the colors by family in the top drawers.  I put my large nail polish remover in the bathroom and kept a travel size in the box; decant as necessary.

after

I highly recommend this.  It’s also great for makeup, obviously, but the drawers are a little shallow for foundation-type products.

Does this: Satisfies OCD tendencies and organizes your stuff so you can make better use of the products you have
Is this: Muji Acrylic Case - 3 Drawer
Get this: Above
Price: $24.75 each

Thank you to my brand friends for the gifted product in this box including Zoya, Essie, and Butter London

Ok, so have you ever gone to the nail salon and
Brought your own nail polish because they don’t have the color you’re currently obsessed with
Used the bathroom and wondered why it’s so … questionable
Had nowhere to hang your coat
Turned around and left cuz it’s closed at 8pm, but you just got out of work!
Wondered if those UV drying lamps were the reason your hands look older than the rest of your body
Had to go to an ATM because you didn’t have cash to tip
“Caught up” on the July 2008 issue of InStyle … um
Tried to hide in the back so your husband wouldn’t see you getting a manicure and massage when you said you were running errands and then he walked by and DID see you getting the massage and gave you grief for a month?  No?  Just me?
Well Nadine Ferber and Adair Ilyinsky have solved all these issues for you, and more, with 10 Over 10 - maybe the greatest nail joint ever.
Like so many great business ideas, this Tribeca NYC nail salon was born out of these gals own frustrations with the mani/pedi “experience” (or lack thereof) here in New York. Their salon is full of now was that really so hard?? touch points like … polishes from Chanel, NARS and your other fancy friends, healthy 5-Free choices, iPads at every seat (!), nice chairs, online booking, credit card only payments, clean bathroom, super nice staff, British Vogue, open till 10pm, windows that look out to the sky (it’s on the 2nd floor - it’s amazing what a difference that makes in terms of peace and quiet) … etc.
Nadine and Adair love guiding their customers to fresh new colors (“Our favorite thing is converting a one-coat-of-Ballet-Slippers person to something new”) including their own new cult colors, and unique shades from brands like RGB - so you’re never left standing there stymied by your own indecision.
I’ve been to the salon twice - once for an Essie event, with Essie herself, greatest day of my life-ish - and for a mani/pedi for Polyvore Live, with Ten’s own Reade and Commerce shades.

It is without question my favorite spot for nails (they also do waxing and brows).  Whether you’re a resident or just visiting the city and looking to treat yo’self, I highly recommend booking in - it’s more like a spa experience and worth every penny.
What: 10 Over 10 Where: 112 Reade St., Tribeca, NYC (also opening under the Parker Meridien in Midtown in the Spring, right next to Dry Bar!) How Much: Manicures from $15, pedicures from $35
Thanks to 10 over 10 and Polyvore Live for the experience

The biker-inspired nails at The Blonds FW12 were created by CND’s Kristina Estabrooks and her team over 130 hours!  No nail set was alike. SICK.

I met the nicest person today at Alexandre Herchovitch … Tommy Mendes, the photographer.  He told me about all this fun stuff he shot backstage at Betsey Johnson and sent me over the file link … which is pretty much the way to my professional heart.

Check the rest out on his Facebook page here … and like him.  Seriously, he’s super likeable.

High on pure gold backstage at Alexandre Herchovitch FW12.  Make-up by MAC; hair by Bumble & Bumble; nails by CND (also in a soft pure gold).

Sidenote - I tried to do my own faux hawk last week and it didn’t work at all.  Now I know how to do it approach doing it.
