So thrilled to have been asked to take part in Rimmel London’s Mod Mania campaign.  I grew up in London and have been using this cult British brand’s makeup my whole life - their products just keep getting better.

For this 60’s inspired look, created by Yuui for Rimmel (hair by my girl Remy Lane Moore), we pumped up a cat eye with an extra thick inky line using Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner, and created a softer version of the classic mod look using Scandaleyes Shadow Stick in Witness White and Scandaleyes Shadow Paint in Mercury Silver. The upper lashes were faux, enhanced with Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara which we also applied to the bottom lashes to complete the look.  Check out the ingenious brush which wings out lashes and plumps them at the center … for bold, wide-eyed volume inspired by the Twiggy era.

If you’re inspired to create a look inspired by the mod era, click over to Rimmel’s tumblr to upload (and find tons of inspiration) for a chance to win prizes from Rimmel London … including a trip to New York City!  You can also simply tag your tweets or Instagram looks with #ModMonday and @rimmellondonus.

And check out the whole Retro Glam campaign for even more inspiration!

Time for another installment of #Drugstory.

A story filled with beauty favorites that are never further than a few blocks away - and do minimal damage to your pocketbook.

1. OPI Euro Centrale Collection - love the metallic colors in this new OPI collection. So shiny! The yellow gold color above is called “Oy another nail polish joke”… Can’t help being loyal to OPI for their names. ($8.00)

2. NYX Wonder Pencil - it’s a concealer, it’s a brightener, it’s a liner, it’s one pencil. Need I say more? ($4.50)

3. ChapStick Moisturizer Hydration Lock -  I am a lip balm junkie, I saw the vanilla/8-hour-moisture-lock label and couldn’t resist. Very happy to add this new tube to the repertoire. ($2.99)

4. Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer - at first I thought this was going to be really weird and too spray-suncreen-esque, but I tried it and completely understand the functionality of spray & go. It’s a nice light moisturizer and application takes about 10 seconds. Perfect. ($7.99)

5. AcneFree 2-in-1 Acne Wipes - yet another convenience fix. These wipes are all you need in a face washing bind when perhaps don’t have access to water or you misplaced your blemish potion. They cleanse and they treat. ($5.99)

Total cost of this drugstory basket: $29.47.

I love a nude lipIt’s natural and glowy in the summer and snuggly in the winter. Naked Princess is very good at 'naked.' They're a boudoir lifestyle brand, specializing in lingerie and beauty products {ed. note: because what else is there??}

The range includes a 24K Love Dust (fancy…), and my new favorite nude gloss.

The gloss is called Naked Shine and comes in 8 different shades. I’ve been wearing barely pink. There are so many things I love … the name (yes), the simple acrylic tube, and the soft shine/sweetness of the gloss itself. It has a subtle sparkle to it, and is the perfect barely-there-shade of pink.

Minimalist make up peeps (such as myself) would love this gloss alone. It also can be used to add a lovely sheen to a finished colored lip

I was talking to a friend the other day, and she mentioned how she loves having a little bit of color in the summer because it inspires her to wear less make up. It’s so true. Having color justifies losing the make up all together! Okay, well maybe not completely.

Daphne Groeneveld (pretty lady above) is my idea of a great summer look. Natural, yet tastefully refined.

Here are two products I like to create this minimalist affair: Blinc Mascara paired with the Blinc Ultrathin Liquid Eyeliner Pen. Each come in a variety of shades and colors, I prefer the traditional black.

Sometimes I too wonder the underlying question when it comes to mascaras - are they really all that different? After a few trials I have found that yes indeed, they are. The standout feature of BLINC mascara is the formula - 100% clean and clump free, because it actually forms tiny water resistant tubes around each lash.

The Ultrathin Liquid Eyeliner Pen has a similar formula - clean, and ultra black. The feature of this pen that is really worth noting is the tiny fine brush - if you aren’t the best with liquid liner, this one is nearly impossible to mess up. (Speaking from experience)

But the thing that really got me, and the reason why these products are cult-worthy for a summer eye -  they do not smudge in heat, humidity, allergic eye-rubbing, etc.!
