You all know Iman, supermodel turned superhuman … transforming the modeling industry and then directing her super powers towards various charities: The Childs Defense Fund, Action Against Hunger and RAISE HOPE FOR CONGO, no less.

Iman also took this world-altering energy of hers and put it towards beauty. The result, IMAN Cosmetics, the first skincare/cosmetics line designed for women of all colors.

No matter which skin color you happen to have, the pigmentation in this line are so impactful they make other drugstore brands seem less than super powerful (remember H.I.P. - if you miss that, you might want to consider this).

Here are a few spring time newbies to IMAN Cosmetics …

CC Correct & Cover Powder to Crème Concealer - this is no ordinary concealer, this formula goes from a powder to a creme. Yes. Hold all ‘oooh’s and ahhh’s’ until trying. It’s pretty sweet.

Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick - these cult lipsticks come in 5 new colors that make you say WOW. Really: wow. They are saturated in brilliantly bright shades (Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, and Kinky Pink) that really last.

Does This: Provides coverage and makes lips POP

Don’t be fooled by the small size of the tubes - MINI LIP TAR pigments are powerful.
A tiny portion of this tinted tar goes a long way on your lips. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is not kidding when they say “HIGH IMPACT COLOR" …

These lip tars are somewhat of a combination of a lip stick, lip gloss, and a lip stain - lip stick because of the complete full coverage color; lip gloss because of the glossy finish; lip stain because once you apply the color it sticks around until you decide to take it off.
Just try them once and you will quickly understand their amazing tri-lip-product powers. However, for best usage, I recommend 3 things.
1. Prep lips with lip liner to avoid feathering2. Apply tar with small application brush 3. Blot, blot and blot
A brush is included in the Sephora Holiday Exclusive Gift Set shown above, making it an excellent stocking stuffer.
These small tars might have inspired Ann and myself to look incredibly bold today … maybe you saw if you follow us on Instagram!

Have to love a good female driven organization - especially one that involves makeup. We See Beauty is a for benefit market place of products and stories that are all working to support a cooperative mission, and beautify the world.
#WomanPower

MAKE cosmetics (Post Impression collection in collab w/ Erik Madigan Heck pictured above) is the first (and only) for-benefit brand of We See Beauty. They sell other brands with a similar mission. Each item on the site is hand selected to assure that it fits the foundation’s aesthetic - quality craftsmanship, good design, promoting collaboration, sharing and social good. Easy to see why MAKE made the cult cut - this line is innovative, tasteful. and frankly had me at the minimalist-yet-oh-so-attractive packaging.

Happy Monday all! I’m feeling pretty optimistic about the new week. But in case you are suffering from Monday moodiness, might I recommend treating yourself to a manicure. Or perhaps a new polish.

Because you can never have EVERY color you might need.

On my quest to find polish that almost never chips, I have become another step leap closer. It’s called SinfulShine from the SinfulColors collection, with gel tech(nology). Consider this your at home alternative to the Gelish manicure, minus mini UV ray machine.

The new SinfulShine collection lives up to its name. The polish is impeccably shiny - even without top coat. And it can be worn for about a week with minimal to no chippage. ! Depending on your preference, one coat is sufficient. If that makes you feel a little iffy, two works great as well.

For optimal results, make sure you take about 10 minutes in between coats. I advise not falling asleep with your hands under a pillow soon after drying. You will wake up with a textured mani.

Rookie mistake.

Ok so important announcement: Essie Weingarten is obviously my real mom. I’m doing a GIVEAWAY of the entire Essie Winter Collection (6 polishes).

CONTEST OVER THANKS FOR PLAYING!

I had the ridiculous, insane privilege of chatting with Essie at a breakfast she threw the other day at Ten Over Ten.  She is really one of my heros - if you don’t know the story of her cult classic empire, which is ~30 years young and was acquired in 2010 by L’Oreal (THE dream of most beauty brands), you should really read this article.

left to right: Size Matters, Brooch the Subject - which is what I have on above, Bangle Jangle, School of Hard Rocks, Bobbing for Baubles, Cocktail Bling

She was so refreshing - she just says whatever and it’s so insightful and incisive. I asked her how the color trend forecasting/decision-making that is the pure heart of her brand has changed since the L’Oreal acquisition … because those companies have a kind of trend forecasting machine going on … and she said they quickly realized she had a “gift from God for picking color” can I get an Amen? and they basically give her free reign.

I mean she just walked into a meeting full of guys and announced the color name “Size Matters” and they approved it.  True story. (She was talking about diamonds though … obvz). So, yeah, nothing has changed … except thankfully we can get Essie at the drugstore now.

Anyway, you can win the whole magnificent Winter Collection, plus a cute silver bag and an emery board.

TO ENTER YOU MUST COMPLETE BOTH OF THESE STEPS …

1. Do ONE of the following…. reblog this post OR follow Cult of Pretty on Bloglovin’ OR follow Cult of Pretty on tumblr OR subscribe via email.

2. Leave a DISQUS comment below and tell me WHICH COLOR WILL YOU TRY FIRST - YOU HAVE TO WRITE THE NAME (see above)!  Don’t comment in “Ask Me Anything.”

Contest ends next Friday October 21, 2011 at 11.59pm Eastern.  If you subscribe or follow to enter, you must be subscribed or following at the time of the drawing.  XO

You know greige (grey + beige)?  We broke up.  I’ve moved on. I’m all about preige now (purple + … you guessed it).
I love this color because my skin has kind of pink/purple dawn of the dead undertones, so as far as darker colors go, it’s very flattering.  I just can’t do a brown or a dark red - it makes me look unwell.

From top to bottom nail in the image above:
1. Sally Hansen Commander in Chic ($6.99) | 2. Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro Steel Grey ($3.78) | 3. Essie Glamour Purse ($8.00)
The Essie is a little browner than the others, which are extremely similar (possibly the exact same - it happens).
What’s your favorite new nail color for Fall?

I love this idea of color matching. Doesn’t it make you inspired for Fall?  All those scarves and hats + a lip to match.  It’s old school but I like it.
Would you/do you ever match your lipstick to your outfit/accessories?
